Ep 1.4 – The Lost City Hall – Step 4 of the Old New York & New Amsterdam Series

Welcome friends! Welcome explorers! This is the fourth step in this first series where we step through Old New York and New Amsterdam.  In this episode we explore one of the hearts of New Amsterdam, the city’s first town hall, called the Stadthuys. We’ll talk about the drunken characters that stumbled through its doors (it was also a tavern) including the infamous Anthony Jansen van Sale, the “Troublesome Turk”, as well as the efforts and pitfalls in recent decades to search for its ruins of these old buildings beneath the skyscrapers.

Ep 1.5 -Hanover Square Pirate Haven – Step 5 of the Old New York & New Amsterdam Series

Ep 1.6 – Wall Street Slave Market – Step 6 of the Old New York & New Amsterdam Series

This is the sixth and final step in the series. Today we are going to arrive at the edge of New Amsterdam on Wall Street. We will discover what happened to the wall that once stood here, as well as talk about what this street was famous for in the 1700s, though it wasn’t yet finance (we’ll save that for another day), but one of the great evils of history: slavery.
